The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) sends condolences to the Msimang family during their time of grief

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) has learnt with great shock about the passing of former Health Minister and recently Minister in the Presidency Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang. Whilst serving as Minister in the Presidency Dr Tshabalala-Msimang played an invaluable role in the reconfiguring of the youth development landscape for the better and for that the NYDA on behalf of the youth sector is thankful to her.

Significantly Dr Tshabalala-Msimang presided over a successful period during her tenure as Minister in the Presidency where she oversaw the adoption of the National Youth Development Agency Bill, leading to the successful establishment of the National Youth Development Agency. This was subsequent to her playing a leading role in the adoption of the National Youth Policy (2009 – 2014) which guides government on its youth development programmes.

"Immediately after she was appointed Minister in the Presidency, comrade Tshabalala-Msimang hit the ground running. As such one of the key sectors that she prioritised was the youth development sector where she immediately became a champion for youth development. This she did through practical efforts that have today led to young people's renewed hope in the government youth development structures" says NYDA Chairperson Andile Lungisa.

"There are no words enough to express our deepest condolences, in particular to the Msimang and Tshabalala families at large. To them we say they must be strong and carry on with the vigour displayed by Comrade Tshabalala-Msimang towards development and improvement of the lives of our people for the better," concludes Lungisa.

To Comrade Mantombazana Tshabalala-Msimang as the NYDA we say lala ngoxolo.
