On Wednesday, 25 January 2012 the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) donated three mobile science laboratories to three schools to do their practicals, in the Eastern Cape.
In 2011 the NYDA visited these three schools in July 2011 as part of their 16 days of activism and painted the schools. Since then they adopted the schools and promised to ensure a better learning environment for the learners of these schools.
Now as part of the celebrations of the 100 year birthday of the ruling party, NYDA has defined 2012 as the year of economic freedom, and they have vowed to make the learning environment conducive to all learners.
Ayanda Matiti, provincial chairperson of the ANC Youth League said, while addressing the learners from Phillip Mzamo School “Your decision to be at school is the most powerful initiative that you have ever taken in your lives, so keep it up." Now “our (NYDA) initiative by donating the science lab is to encourage the learners to peruse a career in science and engineering.”
The principal and learners were truly greatful for the contribution towards a better education. Principal of Phillip Mzamo Senior Secondary School, Yongama Mtiki thanked NYDA saying, “With the mobile science lab you are donating, we thank you, we will utilise it fruitfully and ensure the learners keep it safe, as it is inheritance for the next generations.”
