The festive season is not only a happy season, but also a silly season where some young people get immersed in the celebratory mood and indulge in reckless behaviour such as, alcohol abuse, unsafe sex and violent behaviour which sometimes results in a criminal record.
As we prepare to go on holiday and celebrate, the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) would like to urge young people to behave responsibly and keep their future in mind because reckless behaviour can have lasting consequences.
"Having nothing to do during the holidays can lead to behaviour which has a tragic end for young people. We would like to encourage young people to use this time productively by doing activities such as, volunteering in their communities and visiting heritage sites,: said Andile Lungisa, the NYDA Chairperson.
