National Treasury on publication of the 2026 draft Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill

The National Treasury and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) published the 2026 draft Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill (2026 draft Rates Bill) on 25 February 2026.

This draft Rates Bill contains, amongst others, details of adjustments to the various Tax Act thresholds, exemptions and limit amounts as well as changes to the excise duties on alcoholic beverages and tobacco-related products.

The 2026 Draft Rates Bill containing the proposed tax amendments can be found on the National Treasury (www.treasury.gov.za) and SARS (www.sars.gov.za) websites.

Due date for public comments on the 2026 draft Rates Bill

National Treasury and SARS hereby invite comments in writing on the 2026 draft Rates Bill. Please forward written comments to the National Treasury’s tax policy depository at AnnexCProposals@zatreasury.onmicrosoft.com and SARS at 2026LegislationComments@sars.gov.za by the close of business on 26 June 2026.
