National Treasury on 2022 Budget outreach information sharing programme

2022 Budget outreach information sharing programme

The Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, will table the 2022 National Budget on 23 February in Parliament. As the department responsible for coordinating the process of allocating funds to various government objectives and programmes, the National Treasury invites South African organisations, including higher learning institutions, to indicate interest in hosting the National Treasury for a virtual Budget outreach programme. The outreaches will run from March until April 2022 on a virtual platform.

Over the years, the budget outreach has been an annual engagement with higher education institutions only on the Budget. This year, the National Treasury invites all interested organisations to participate in this information-sharing and education drive regarding the national budget priorities that will be outlined during the Minister of Finance’s Budget Speech. This is an integral part of the National Treasury’s public participation initiatives wherein the National Budget will be unpacked and a meaningful debate held with the public.

Please note that space is limited, and therefore, a first-come-first-served basis will apply. The National Treasury officials will avail its executives and/or senior managers responsible for the budget process to participate.

Should an organisation be interested in this engagement, it would be responsible for organising the attendance of participants and communicating the preferred time as well as the online platform for a period of two hours. The organisation may also market the event to a broader audience and make any other related logistics it deems necessary.

The pre-set slots that each organisation can secure are indicated below. The National Treasury will validate and confirm participation on receipt of the interest, including allocating officials accordingly.

Interested organisations may send their response to Media@treasury.gov.za
