The National Sport and Recreation Indaba commenced successfully in Midrand today. The Indaba was officially opened by South Africa's Deputy President, Mr Kgalema Motlanthe, with Sport and Recreation Minister, Mr Fikile Mbalula, delivering the keynote address.
The Indaba is divided into six commissions, namely:
- Recreation/Mass Participation and School Sport
- The geo-political constitutional boundaries vs sport federation boundaries plus Sports Councils
- Facilities
- Role demarcation at macro level plus Amateur vs Professional Sport & Recreation SA Transformation
- All non-disputed resolutions
Day two of the Indaba will be about feedback from the commissions and finalisation of resolutions.
