The Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters, MP, has today, 12 January 2010 urged all South Africans to actively participate in the public hearings by National Energy Regulator of South Africa’s on Eskom’s application for a 35 percent tariffs hike over the next three years.
These public hearings provide a platform for the public to register their concerns on Eskom’s proposed tariff hike. It is also important to note that last year, the Minister of Energy has also urged NERSA to conduct these hearings in order to give the public a chance to comment and make inputs on the proposed hike.
The Minister of Energy further pleaded with all South Africans who can’t make it to the hearings to make their voices heard by calling or sending written submissions to NERSA on the following contact details:
