The President’s national dialogue debate has been postponed.
President Zuma had announced during the Presidency budget vote speech that he would convene a national dialogue on unity and social cohesion on 29 July. The purpose was to identify that which brings the nation together, in order to promote the unity in diversity aspects of the Constitution of the Republic.
Given the impact of the 2010 FIFA World Cup on social cohesion in the country, government has taken a decision to link the national dialogue process to a post-World Cup legacy programme of action.
Government is currently conducting a detailed assessment of the tournament which should be completed by the end of September.
A new date for the dialogue will be announced in due course.
