Municipalities' readiness to submit annual financial statements to be assessed

In its endeavour to help municipalities in the province to submit their Annual Financial Statements (AFS) on time to the Auditor General, the North West Provincial Coordinating Council (NWPCC), which is chaired by the Premier Supra Mahumapelo, will hold a special meeting in Mmabatho tomorrow as part of preparations for the submission of 2013/14 AFS.

The meeting which will see municipalities presenting their state of readiness to submit by the set deadline of 31 August 2014, will be attended by all Executive Mayors and Mayors, Municipal Managers, MECs and Heads of Departments.

Premier Mahumapelo says this session is important as it will allow for intervention steps to be taken where necessary. This is line with his commitment to turn the municipalities around by assisting them to eventually achieve clean audits, and ensuring better planning alignment between the province and municipalities.
