On behalf of the Department of Safety and Liaison, we remarkably mourn the life of our beloved great leader, a motivational icon and a former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
Tata Mandela was the 10th President of the African National Congress (ANC) and led this organisation through a difficult period of negotiations and leading the masses of the people to the freedom which we all enjoy today.
President Mandela will be remembered by the South Africans with his selfless leadership, freedom and forgiveness. The country has lost a good man who has left a footprint on this earth that no one else will ever be able to fill.
The department would remember his humanity, dignity and behaviour which are qualities that are deeply valued by all South Africans. It gives thanks for his life, his leadership, his devotion to humanity and humanitarian causes.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mandela family and the ANC.
