More training for traffic officers

Having identified areas where provincial traffic officers fall short after completing their college training, the Eastern Cape Department of Transport has introduced a Field Training Officer’s Project.

Conducted by 17 provincial traffic officers who were trained by Road Traffic Management Corporation, this project is aimed at work-shopping traffic officers around administration aspects of their work.

According to the provincial training coordinator, Norman Neethling, 625 traffic officers from different districts are expected to benefit from the project, which seeks to accelerate service delivery in the province.

He further said that the project is going well and is fuelled by regular meetings conducted with the Field Traffic Officers. “I must express the words of gratitude to RTMC for its consistent and unwavering support to the project” he said.

Neethling also expressed a word of appreciation to Chief Director for Traffic Management, Charles Reynolds for affording him an opportunity to lead this expedition.

‘‘This opportunity has earned me a chance to represent the province on the Training Committee for Traffic Personnel (TCTP),” he said.
