A total of 436 nurses from Mmabatho Nursing College and Excelsius Nursing College in the North West will graduate at a joint ceremony scheduled for Friday, 26 August at Mmabatho Convention Centre. Nursing students will be graduating in different disciplines including clinical nursing science, psychiatric nursing, advance midwifery, health assessment treatment and care and operating theater.
The two government nursing colleges are tasked with training and producing nurses for the public health facilities.
The graduates are expected to be deployed to health facilities in the province which are in need of extra nurses for efficient and prompt health service delivery. The new nurses will do their compulsory community service for a year, which will enable them to register with South African Nursing Council.
Members of the media are invited to attend the ceremony scheduled to start at 09h00. Health MEC Dr Magome Masike will address graduates.
