As part of ensuring that her department complies with the regulatory frameworks, North West MEC for Human Settlements, Desbo Mohono, has launched the Departmental Consultative Forum (DCF).
Addressing hundreds of departmental employees gathered during the official launch of the DCF, Mohono said the forum will promote good management of employment equity and affirmative action matters within the department and further ensure effective consultation on all employment policies and procedures.
“In simple terms the purpose of this forum is to ensure compliance with all relevant pieces of the Legislations, promoting effective communication between management, employees and trade unions.”
“Among other duties expected to be performed by members of this forum are to effectively promote and maintain sound employment relations with the department, to proactively deal with matters pertaining to employee health and wellness, to ensure effective consultation on all employment policies and procedures thus promoting effective service delivery within the Department of Human Settlement North West Province,” said Mohono.
She urged employees gathered during the launch to rally behind the forum and further to give the necessary support in whatever encounter the forum would face.
The DCF, which consists of members from the department and employee representatives, will ensure thorough consultation on the preparation and implementation of Employment Equity Plan and Report, ensure compliance with labour laws and further report to the Departmental Management Committee on its activities.
MEC Mohono said her department is committed to creating sound labour relations and ultimately democratise the workplace as stipulated in the Constitution.
