Following the commitment she made to the communities of Kanana extension 5 during her recent visit, North West MEC for Human Settlements, Desbo Mohono has delivered on her promise.
Consistent with her earlier undertaking, Mohono introduced the contractor who will be rebuilding more than fifty houses that were damaged by a hailstorm about two weeks ago.
During her visit, Mohono assured the members of the community that her department would rebuild damaged houses and assured affected families that they would return to their houses within a very short space of time.
The appointed contractor will today resume the work of constructing eleven houses and renovate 43 cracked houses. This will also create some job opportunities for the local communities. As the assessment of the damage done by the hailstorm continues, the municipality’s hardworking team has discovered 28 more houses which need to be repaired.
Mohono said that fulfilling promises made to communities is important if people’s confidence in our democratic government is to be restored and sustained.
