Modise commits to clean public administration

North West Premier Thandi Modise is determined to expedite the pace of government services to the people of the North West province. Premier Modise did not mince her words when she pledged clean public administration and the eradication of corruption and fraudulent activities in her State of the Nation address delivered in the provincial legislature on Friday.

Modise said that she is together with her team determined to change the image of government and the province for the better.

While she conceded that her team is faced with the mammoth task of ridding the province of its repulsive image, she emphasised that, “We should take the imperfections of our past as lessons on how to ensure the future continues to shape a better tomorrow for our people”

The Premier indicated that over 436 cases of corruption are at different stages of investigations by different state organs in the province and that her administration will make every effort to bring all of them to finality in the next financial year.

“Corruption must be fought everywhere, in the Executive Council, Legislature and in the public and private sectors. it must be fought fearlessly by everyone. Stern measures will continue to be taken to stem corruption and maladministration at local level as well” she stressed.

Modise called for managers within government to manage with firmness, fairness and foresight. She called on them to address ill-discipline and to confront misdemeanor of any sort frimly and speedily.
