The North West Provincial Road Traffic Management authorities are to implement a pay-fine online strategy in the new financial year. The decisive shift to maximise revenue collection in favour of the provincial government was announced by North West Premier Thandi Modise in her State of the Province Address on Friday.
The strategy is implemented on expiry of the existing controversial contract for execution of warrants of arrest for outstanding traffic fines by a private service provider. It will mark the end of the existing 50 %revenue share contract with Lengane Investment Holdings for execution of warrants of arrest.
Other options that are being considered include among others using internal resources within government and payment through easipay at post offices and other chain stores.
