The Department of Public Enterprises would like to clarify that the assertion made by the Business Report that the Minister of Public Enterprises was ‘set to hold an impromptu meeting’ with transport union representatives in its article ‘Hogan works on Transnet standoff’ dated 11 May 2010, is false. As such, we will be taking up the matter of false reporting with the editor of the Business Report and if need be, the Press Ombudsman.
Transnet negotiations
The minister has full confidence in the parties involved in the negotiations in this matter and is hopeful that a solution that satisfies all parties will be found with due regard to the interests of everyone in South Africa.
