Ministers Plato and Winde to host career workshop in Hanover Park

On Monday, 27 February 2012 Dan Plato, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, will be hosting a career workshop in Hanover Park for youth who have successfully passed matric in the past two years.

The pilot project, with the assistance of Minister Winde’s Economic Development and Tourism team, aims to give the youth of gang affected areas in the Western Cape an opportunity to learn valuable skills such as CV writing, interview techniques and work/job etiquette, and to listen to motivational speakers in order to better prepare them for meaningful employment and steer them away from becoming involved in gang activity.

Potential employers have also agreed to speak to learners about employment opportunities in their respective fields, with companies like Artscape, Golden Arrow, Nampak, Staffing Direct, and the Western Cape Government’s Cultural Affairs and Sport and Economic Development departments presenting potential employment opportunities as part of their skills development programme.

All media are invited to attend.

Date: Monday, 27 February 2012
