Minister Zizi Kodwa announces appointment of Mandla Ntlanganiso as the accounting authority for Boxing South Africa

The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Mr Zizi Kodwa, MP, announces the appointment of Mr Mandla Ntlanganiso as the accounting authority for Boxing South Africa (BSA), effective from 24 February 2024.
 
This appointment has been made in concurrence with National Treasury, in terms of Section 49(2) of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), which states that if a public entity:
 
(a) has a board or other controlling body, that board or controlling body is the accounting authority for that entity; or
(b) does not have a controlling body, the chief executive officer, or the other person in charge of the public entity is the accounting authority for that public entity unless specific legislation applicable to that public entity designates another person as the accounting authority.
 
Minister Kodwa says, “The appointment of Mr Mandla Ntlanganiso as Boxing South Africa’s accounting authority provides clarity to all stakeholders and assurance to all promoters and boxers that all sanctioned boxing fights will go ahead as planned.”
 
Minister Kodwa adds, “I endeavour unremittingly to ensure that all legal matters before the Ministry and Boxing South Africa are resolved as a matter of urgency. The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture is working around the clock to restore good cooperate governance at Boxing South Africa”.
 
Minister Kodwa further states, “My gratitude goes to Mr Mandla Ntlanganiso for holding the fort as Boxing South Africa Acting Chief Executive Officer. I congratulate Mr Ntlanganiso and wish him well in his new appointment. He can certainly count on my guidance and the Department’s support.”
