Call for nominations for members to serve on the Board of the Agrement South Africa
The Minister of Public Works, Honorable T.W. Nxesi (MP), hereby invites nominations for new members to serve on the Board of the Agrément South Africa (Agrément SA).
The Agrément SA is a government institution operating in terms of a Delegation of Authority from the Minister of Public Works. The institution stimulates innovation within the construction industry by assessing the fitness-for-purpose of non-standard or unconventional products and building systems with the objective of supporting and promoting the process of integrated socio-economic development in South Africa.
Agrément SA is internationally acknowledged as an objective centre for assessment and certification of construction products, systems, materials, components and processes for which there are no applicable South African Bureau of Standards standard specification or code of practice.
Requirements:
The Board members of the Agrément SA shall be competent persons with experience and expertise in one or more of the following:
One or more facets of construction, particularly as it relates to innovation, infrastructure development, housing quality assurance and certification. Business management, finance or marketing International standardisation and technical infrastructure matters Application of construction regulations and enforcement thereof Corporate governance which includes: human resource planning, change management and organisational development.
The Board members are also expected to have the specialist knowledge on the needs and functions of one or more of the following sectors of the construction industry:
Organs of State regulating the construction industry Providers of buildings and infrastructure, including materials and products Relevant technical, scientific and professional institutions and associations Relevant community based structures, including non-governmental organisations
Disqualification:
The following persons are not eligible to be appointed to the Board of the Agrément SA: foreigners; un-rehabilitated insolvent person; person removed from an office of trust on account of misconduct; person convicted of an offence within South Africa and abroad, other than an offence committed prior to 27 April 1994 associated with political objectives. A political office bearer must vacate his / her political position as soon as appointed as a Board member.
Terms and conditions:
The term of office for Board members is three years effective from the date of appointment by the Minister. Individual Board members qualify for one (1) consecutive reappointment to the Board.
Nomination particulars:
Nominations should be in writing and must contain the following information: Full name, address and telephone number(s) of the nominating person or organisation. Full name, identity number, address and telephone number(s) of the nominee.
Signed acceptance of the nomination by the nominee. A motivation for the appointment of the nominee to the Board of the Agrément SA (Maximum: 1 page) A short Curriculum Vitae of the nominee (maximum: 2 pages) covering the following areas: the nominee’s full name, ID number, race, gender, contact address, telephone numbers, qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills, names and contact details of, at least, two referees. Certified copy of the South African ID Certified copies of the qualifications.
The closing date for nominations is 25 April 2014.
