The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) Ms Thembi Nkadimeng congratulates and welcomes the appointment of the members of Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) by President Cyril Ramaphosa, in accordance with Section 6(1) read with Sections 8(7) and 9(1) of the Local Government: Municipal Demarcation Act No. 27 of 1998. The appointment is with effect from 1st March 2024 and for a term of five years.
The following persons have been appointed to serve on the Board:
1. Ms Ntombekaya Leticia Baart
2. Ms Gabisile Gumbi-Masilela
3. Mr Thabo Moses Manyoni (Chairperson of the Board)
4. Prof. Sussana Gertruida Bouillon
5. Mr Sibongiseni Mduduzi Maseko
6. Dr David Matheakuena Mohale (Deputy Chairperson of the Board)
7. Ms Marcia Thabisile Mabuza
8. Mr Pascal Paul Moloi
9. Ms Edith Margaret Tukakgomo
10. Dr Udeshtra Pillay
The MDB is an independent authority and is solely for the determination or redetermination of both outer and inner boundaries, in terms of the Constitution and other enabling legislation.
The Minister also wishes to thank the previous board members who have over the past five years, worked tirelessly to redefine and optimize the spatial landscape of South African municipalities.
The Minister wishes the new Board well with their new responsibilities in contributing to the strengthening of democratic local governance.
