Minister Sisulu hands over half a million computer lab to Tzaneen learners

Public Service and Administration Minister Lindiwe Sisulu says Government continues to make stride in improving the education of South African learners and to date has made it possible for over seven million learners to attend no fees school.

“Over the past twenty years contrary to what people want us to believe this government has done a lot of work in ensuring access to quality education to the previously disadvantaged,” she said.

Sisulu was speaking at the handover ceremony of a half a million rand computer laboratory Maolwe Seconday School in Mokwasele village in Bolobedu, Limpopo donated by State Information Technology Agency (SITA).

The computer laboratory consists of 25 computers, two laptops, a multi seat solution and ICT integration training, the server, cabinet, network switch, cabling, printer, smart board, projector and two laptops, desks and chairs to the value of five hundred thousand.

In addition to this SITA will also continue to provide ICT integration training to all teachers and learners.

The School Principal Ms Satekge raised an issue of falling infrastructure since the school was built in 1977 as a concern especially lack of toilets which are not enough for the learners. These toilets are also not in good condition.

In response Minister Sisulu committed to building the toilets and a school fence by June this year.
