The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr Senzeni Zokwana, officially opened the ninth Grain SA regional office in partnership with the Maize Trust and the Winter Cereal Trust in Maclear, Eastern Cape, on the 15 August 2014. The office has been opened with the exclusive purpose to assist new developing grain farmers.
Minister Zokwana says strong partnerships between commercial and smallholder farmers in the grain sector will be instrumental in creating employment. The agriculture sector has been identified as a key employment driver by the National Development Plan.
The other offices are spread throughout the grain producing areas like:
- KwaZulu-Natal Louwsburg
- Free State Ladybrand
- Mpumalanga Mbombela, Balfour
- Northwest Lichtenburg
- Western Cape Paarl
