Minister Jeff Radebe commends prosecutors and investigation team for today's conviction of Johannes Kana for the rape and murder of Annene Booysen. This clearly bolsters government's aggressive fight against sexual violence on women and children.
Minister Radebe has praised the courts for ensuring that victims of these heinous crimes receive justice and protection from the courts who are guardians of our constitution which guarantees their right to life and dignity.
Minister hopes that an appropriate sentence that fits the crime will be imposed.
Minister hopes that this conviction and subsequent sentence will encourage other victims of sexual violence to report cases to law enforcement and that other offenders will be deterred.
