Minister Mr Pravin Gordhan condemns the shooting that claimed the life of his protector Constable Sello Machete. This happened on Friday (19 June 2015) night at Stinkwater, north of Pretoria. Machete’s pistol was also stolen.
The Minister says that his death came as a shock as Constable Machete was with him a few hours before his tragic killing. He was a diligent officer who was very disciplined and a hardworking member of the police service. The Minister also said that those responsible for the death of Constable Machete should be brought to book.
Minister Gordhan sends his condolences to the family of Sello Machete as well as to the COGTA family as people who worked with him until his untimely death. May his soul rest in peace.
