The Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa will tomorrow engage with the community of Eshowe in KwaZulu-Natal as part of the ministry’s engagement programme with the communities, organised structures, business and other role-players in the fight against crime.
This dialogue is aimed at fostering closer partnerships between police and community in dealing with some of the issues affecting them, notably crime including drug abuse by youth, rape as well as house robberies.
The other issue which may not necessarily fall under the ministry’s ambit but may contribute to crime, relates to cutting of electricity without prior warning especially during the night; which then led to increases in house robberies. The minister will utilise this engagement, together with all affected communities, to find solutions and will also lead a door-to-door campaign.
Details to the engagement are as follows:
Date: Sunday, 12 December 2010
Venue: Operational Centre, Ndwandwe Street, Eshowe
