Transport Minister Dipuo Peters has received with shock and sadness news of the crash that occurred on the R503 between Lichtenberg and Mafikeng in the North West province this afternoon.
Preliminary reports indicate that two sedan type vehicles collided head-on on the R503 at around 14h00 this afternoon killing all occupants in both vehicles. (single occupant in one vehicle and four occupants in the other).
“Our deep, heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the deceased and we wish them all the strength and comfort during this tragic period and their moment of grief”, said Minister Peters.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has dispatched a team of crash and incident reconstruction and investigation experts to determine the cause of the crash and families of the deceased are also encouraged to consult with the Road Accident Fund (RAF) for assistance and support during this period.
“This tragic loss of lives calls on all road users in South Africa to be vigilant at all times on our roads and to obey all the rules. I call on all South Africans to heed this call and help us make a difference and save lives”, concluded Minister Peters.
