The Minister’s visit included interaction with correctional officers and inmates at the wood and steel production workshops and the bakery. “We are highly impressed with the quality of production at the workshops as well as the bakery.

We emphasised to management to focus more on the entrepreneurial skills of offenders to enable them to be self-employed and self-sustainable upon release when they are reintegrated back into the society,” the Minister said.

This morning (11 July 2012), prior to the Boksburg visit, the Minister addressed all staff from the national office of Correctional Services in Tshwane.
