Minister Ndebele on ten people killed in Eastern Cape road crash

Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele has conveyed condolences to the families of ten people killed in a road crash, involving a bus in Dimbaza Village outside King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape earlier today, Saturday, 12 September 2009.

According to initial reports, ten people were killed and numerous others injured when the bus they were travelling in veered out of control and overturned in Dimbaza village outside King Williams Town this morning, 12 September 2009.

"We want to express our condolences to the families and relatives of the ten people who were killed in a road crash involving a bus outside King Williams Town earlier today, 12 September 2009. Our thoughts and prayers are with these families during these very difficult moments. We wish those injured a speedy recovery.

The national Department of Transport will be dispatching a team of accident investigation and reconstruction specialists to assist in the investigation of this crash in order to ascertain the cause. We are appealing to public transport operators and drivers to obey all road rules and exercise extreme caution as we cannot continue putting the lives of innocent commuters at risk. This unnecessary loss of lives on our roads must be brought to an end," said Minister Ndebele.
