Minister Ndebele remains committed to engagement

Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele has re-iterated his commitment to continue engaging with various stakeholders.

“We will continue our intensive engagement with all stakeholders including the taxi industry and civil society on various issues including the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system as well as regulation and legislation of the taxi industry.

“As the Department of Transport, our doors have always been and will continue to remain, open regarding any issue. However, discussion between us should never affect the ordinary woman and man who want to go about their normal business of life. Democracy is also about the freedom of movement.

“South Africans have thrown their weight behind government's plans to provide safe, efficient and affordable public transport. We want to re-iterate that the interest of the commuter remains paramount and therefore, everything we do in public transport must ultimately benefit the commuter.” said the minister.
