Minister Ndebele on MinMEC

"Transport has been identified as one of the key areas to drive economic growth in South Africa over the next few years. This is indicative of the importance of this sector, and raises the bar with regards to the work to be carried out in terms of transport at national, provincial and local level."

This was emphasised by Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele at the first Transport MinMec for 2011 held in Tshwane earlier today, Tuesday, 1 February 2011.

Key issues discussed at the MinMec included:

"Transport Lekgotla to be held later this month with various transport stakeholders for formal engagement on the entire transport sector.

"Transport road shows across all provinces that that will commence this month.

These and other transport programmes are currently being finalised and further pronouncements will be made in the near future.
