Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele has conveyed condolences to the Mbili family from the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal, whose three children drowned yesterday, 14 November 2010.
"We want to convey our condolences to the Mbili family who lost three children in a tragic drowning incident involving a rented boat on the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal yesterday, 14 November 2010. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during these difficult moments. The South African Maritime Safety Agency (SAMSA), an agency of the Department of Transport, is also investigating this incident.
As we head towards the December holidays, thousands of people will engage in various activities at the sea, rivers and dams. SAMSA will be intensifying its Water Safety Programme in order to raise awareness with regards to legal compliance as well as behaviour of those engaging in water-related activities," Minister Ndebele said.
