Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele has conveyed condolences to the family of Bishop Matthew Makhaye, former Bishop-Suffragan of the Diocese of Natal, who passed away on Monday, 22 November 2010.
“We want to extend condolences to the family, relatives and congregation at large of Bishop Makhaye. Bishop Makhaye enriched many of us with wisdom and spiritual guidance which also deepened our understanding of duty and responsibility. He did not submit to the pressures of deprivation and hardships but assisted our people in keeping the faith.
We will forever celebrate what he did to help our people regain their dignity and renew their faith in our creator. The memories we have and will forever cherish are memories of a servant of the community who devoted his life to improving the lives of many. Bishop Makhaye played an integral role as part of the KwaZulu-Natal African Renaissance Trust. He will be sorely missed. May his soul rest in peace,” Minister Ndebele said.
His funeral will take place at 09h00 tomorrow Friday, 26 November, at the Indoor Sports Centre, Ladysmith.
