Minister Ndebele appoints acting Director for the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA)

Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele has appointed Mr Zakhele Thwala acting Director of the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).

The employment contract of the current Head of the SACAA, Mr Colin Jordaan, ends on 31 December 2010. The process of appointing the new director is at an advanced stage.

“We wish to thank Mr Colin Jordaan for his valuable contribution during his tenure at the SACAA and wish him well for his future. We also wish Mr Thwala everything of the best on his new responsibility,” said the Minister.

Mr Thwala currently holds the position of Deputy Director-General in the Department of Transport and one of his areas of responsibility is aviation. Mr Thwala’s secondment is in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Aviation Act of 2009 (Act 13 of 2009) and is with effect from January 2011 until further notice.
