Minister Nathi Mthethwa has been appointed acting Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) until further notice. This is to allow the CoGTA Minister, Honourable Sicelo Shiceka, time to attend to his recovery following a bout of illness.
The department appeals to all, including the media, to allow the Minister and his family the respect and space to attend to what is undoubtedly a personal matter.
All functions of the Ministry and the Department that would normally be carried out by Minister Shiceka will continue under the interim leadership of Minister Mthethwa, with the full support of Deputy Minister Yunus Carrim.
Minister Mthethwa’s acting responsibilities commenced on 24 February 2011.
