Minister Mosebenzi Zwane meets with MIGDETT stakeholders

Mineral Resources Minister Mr Mosebenzi Zwane held his first meeting of Mining Industry Growth Development and Employment Task Team (MIGDETT) principals in Tshwane this morning, where he assured industry stakeholders of his and the department's commitment to moving the South African mining industry forward.

"Our approach is that of an open-door policy with all our stakeholders. When problems arise, we will not hesitate to step in and ensure they are resolved," Minister Zwane said.

The Minister further used the opportunity to raise the issue of funding for education and skills development.

"It would be a miss of us to sit here and pretend that the #FeesMustFall march is not happening. It is imperative that we engage and see how we can assist in this regard. We will thus be knocking on your doors, as we encourage those who already have solutions to come forward."

The Mining Industry Growth Development and Employment Task Team (MIGDETT) was formed in 2008 in response to the global economic crisis then. Members include representatives from organised business and organised labour.
