The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Adv. Michael Masutha, has noted with concern claims by the Democratic Alliance (DA) that he has received an application from offender Schabir Shaik for conversion of his medical parole to ordinary parole.
There is no legal provision which allows any conversion of medical parole to ordinary parole. Therefore, any such application will be dealt with terms of the aforementioned provisions.
The allegations by the DA are, thus, rejected with the contempt it deserves.
