Correctional Services Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has placed the National Commissioner of Correctional Services (Ms Xoliswa Sibeko) and the Acting Chief Financial Officer (Ms N Mareka) on precautionary suspension with immediate effect.
Addressing a special Executive Management Committee meeting in Pretoria this morning, Minister Mapisa-Nqakula also announced the establishment of an investigating team by the Public Service Commission into the conduct of the National Commissioner.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize and all members of the Executive Management Committee including the National Commissioner, Chief Deputy Commissioners and Regional Commissioner of Correctional Services.
