It is with profound sadness that the Minister learnt of the death of Mr Mashope who served as the Secretary of the Northern Cape Legislature when the Minister was the MEC for Education in the province.
Minister Joemat-Pettersson described him as a rare and dedicated official who was an organiser, peacemaker, and disciplined leader. His passion and dedication to his work moulded him into a person who could bravely interpret and articulate legislative processes to members of the legislature.
This earned him the admiration and adoration of many people in and outside government circles. This is one characteristic that we all aspire to have as we continue to provide much needed services to our people. In the depth of our hopes and desires lies the silent knowledge of the life his family will have without him.
We hope that they will gain strength and courage from the knowledge that the people of the Northern Cape and the country share their sorrow.
