Minister Dlamini respond to the SASSA Tender Court ruling

In response of today’s court ruling, the Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will address and interact with members of the media during the media briefing. The Minister will be responding to the SASSA tender court ruling taken by the North Gauteng High court today.

This tender is for the provision of social grants to more than 14,8 million people who are comprised of vulnerable South Africans including older persons, war veterans and disabled persons. The tender further involve children who are beneficiaries of child support grants, foster care and care dependency grants.

Following the tender process, the social grants tender which is worth nearly R10 billion was awarded to Cash Pay Master Services (CPS) on 17 January 2012 and the service level agreement were signed on 3 February 2012. After awarding of this tender, other companies including All Pay Consolidated Investment lodged a complaint at the North Gauteng High court citing tender irregularities. 

Minister Dlamini will be accompanied by senior officials from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA).
