Minister Dipuo Peters delivers keynote address at North West province infrastructure colloquium

Energy Minister Dipuo Peters today delivered keynote address at North West planning commission infrastructure colloquium, the colloquium takes place at the back drop of the major infrastructure drive as announced by the President of the Republic, President Jacob Zuma, and coordinated through the work of the Presidential infrastructure coordinating commission.

The gathering, made up of various departments, state entities and municipalities, seeks to develop recommendations on defining the specific areas of intervention relevant to the North West province. Minister Peters, speaking on the theme 'the relevance of the energy sector and importance of energy planning' reminted delegates that energy remains the catalyst for economic growth and development.

Reflating on the strides made by the DoE on energy planning capacity, the minister hailed the process that contributed to the promulgation of the IRP2010 as one of the most thorough and consultative and inclusive policy process under taken, with the participation of a wide range of stake holders inputs from very diverse sources. She further focus on the areas of focus for the North West province, especially in the areas of solar power generation, biogas potential and energy efficiency and demand side management interventions
