Minister of Transport Ms Dipuo Peters saddened by death of Simba Mhere
The Minister of Transport, Ms Dipuo Peters, is saddened by the death of Simba Mhere, today Saturday, 31 January 2015. Mhere was the SABC Top Billing presenter.
According to traffic reports, Mhere was travelling with his father and another passenger when the accident happened this morning at the N1 William Nicol Road.
Minister Peters says government will make sure that everything possible is done to bring to book all those that transgresses the rules of the road.
One death is much too many on our roads. All road users need to make a personal contribution towards saving lives by pledging to obey all traffic rules and regulations thereby taking personal responsibility of our safety on our roads.
Amongst other interventions the Department of Transport will doing in response to irresponsible behaviour on our roads, the department will invoke Section 50 of the National Road Traffic Act which empowers the RTMC CEO to deal harshly with motor vehicle and drivers who do not comply with the provision of the said Act.
Minister Peters conveys her condolences to the Mhere family and friends, including those of the unidentified friend who also passed on in the same car.
