In mourning the untimely death of Mr Frans Ting-Ting Masango, Member of Parliament, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, says that the nation has been robbed of an incorruptible true patriot, a true revolutionary and servant of our people.
The Minister has conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Masango family relatives, friends and the community of Mamelodi on behalf of the staff and management of the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti). In paying tribute to Masango, the Minister said that the late ANC Member of Parliament and Member of the Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry has left an indelible mark on the struggle for freedom and the transformation of South Africa.
“Frans Ting-Ting Masango, MP was a courageous freedom fighter, Community Development Worker (CDW), voice of the voiceless, defender and protector of the weak and vulnerable who put the fate and life of his people above his own. In his own inimitable way, he never aspired for fame, fortune, or individual accolades, nor extolled the achievements under his belt.
His heroism shall be engraved in the minds of the masses of our people for whose freedom he was prepared to make the supreme sacrifice.” said Davies.
Minister Davies added that the Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry will be poorer without Masango’s contribution, and the dti has equally been denied his leadership.
“The most fitting tribute we can extend to Cde Ting-Ting Masango, is to dedicate ourselves unreservedly to the realisation of his vision of free and democratic society, as well as to the objectives of government of speeding up economic growth” he concluded.
