Further to media reports that Minister Davies called for the termination of the contract of the former Estate Agency Affairs Board CEO Nomonde Mapetla, and that his alleged involvement will be the subject of a preliminary investigation by the Public Protector, the Minister has written to the Public Protector reiterating that he has not instructed anybody to act against any person in the Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB).
Furthermore the Minister reiterated that he has noted malicious allegations suggesting that Mapetla was dismissed by the EAAB on “his instruction and or indirect influenceas unfounded, malicious and libellous”. He further said that he “wished to dismiss the allegations with the contempt that it deserves and categorically deny involvement and or a desired interest in having Mapetla dismissed’.
The Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) has operational independence with regard to employment matters. As a matter of course, the Minister of Trade and Industry would not intervene in employment related matters.
