The Minister of Correctional Services, Hon. Nosiviwe N Mapisa-Nqakula - MP, has congratulated Western Cape High Court Judge Siraj Desai on his appointment as Chairperson of the National Council of Correctional Services.
"Judge Siraj Desai brings with him a wealth of experience in the arena of Correctional Services, having served in this critical institution of our Criminal Justice System before. We are confident that the expertise that Judge Desai brings to this portfolio will assist bring to fruition efforts to not only transform the Department of Correctional Services but also efforts to bring the White Paper on Corrections of 2005 to full operation" said Minister Mapisa-Nqakula.
The announcement by the Minister of Correctional Services follows the endorsement of Judge Desai's appointment to a three-year term of office as Chair of the NCCS by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.
Minister Mapisa-Nqakula has wished Judge Desai well in his new role.
