The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries would like to congratulate the winner of the North West farmer who has scooped the Absa Agricultural Research Council National Emerging Beef Farmer of the Year for 2012, Ms Matshediso Molale-Moeketsi.

Ms Molale-Moeketsi’s achievement is a wonderful cause for celebration. The Ministry and Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries would like to congratulate her on her achievement and add that the role of women in agriculture is now. Women have repeatedly demonstrated their willingness to break ground and to undertake duties previously thought to be the reserve of men only.

“The fact that the winner is a beneficiary of the national department’s Kaonafatso Ya Dikgomo Scheme, which is sponsored in partnership with the Agricultural Research Council, is an example of the kind of future we envision for agriculture”.

The aim of the scheme is to support emerging beef farmers by teaching them to apply best livestock management processes to increase their productivity and profitability.
