Minister Chabane saddened by loss of lives

Minister in The Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Collins Chabane is saddened by the loss of lives of young people at initiation schools in our country.

"The reported loss of several young lives in Mpumalanga and elsewhere in the country is regrettable. This has happened to young people who were still at their prime looking forward to a brighter future where they could still reach their potential" said Minister Chabane.

Minister Chabane as a Minister responsible for youth development said that the safety of young people should be paramount at all initiation schools. These young people attend initiation schools with hope of reaching manhood and their dream should not lead to a loss of any life.

"We call on the traditional leadership to work together with government to prevent this regrettable loss of lives. Government will have to work with all stakeholders to ensure the safety of all young people who wish to go through this traditional custom. This practice has been practiced in our country for many years and these loss of lives should not discourage our people to practice what is guaranteed by our constitution" says Minister Chabane.
