Minister Blade Nzimande wishes TVET students well in their examinations

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, wishes the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students well in their examinations which commenced on 10 November 2020.

Minister Nzimande said that the Nated Engineering Studies; NC(V) and GETC – AET L4 commenced their examinations without any challenges, and that the final paper to be written will be on 11 December 2020.

“Examinations centres have trained invigilators on the conduct and management of exams especially in the wake of COVID-19, and also on the management of irregularities in the event such happens,” Minister Nzimande said.

Minister Nzimande further said that the Department of Higher Education and Training has dispatched monitors to all regions and so far the reports are indicating that exams are running smoothly.

“All our exam centres are adhering to the COVID-19 protocols as captured in the Conduct Guidelines and it has been reported by the monitors that no late coming has been experienced and I applaud students for that,” said the Minister.

The DHET will conduct staggered marking for both NC (V) and Nated from 21 November 2020, with planned completion on 31 December 2020. GETC - AET Level 4 marking will also be in a staggered manner in collaboration with DBE – Provincial offices from 7 December 2020 with the last PED finishing marking on 14 January 2021.

The department, through the TVET Branch, will continue to monitor the marking process to ensure the credibility of the outcome of the results.
