Minister Bathabile Dlamini calls on SAFA to ensure safe viewing places for women's AFCON final 2018

The Minister in the Presidency Responsible for Women, Minister Bathabile Dlamini, calls on the South African Football Association to ensure there are safe public viewing places and spaces for the African Women’s Cup of Nations Finale.

“On the day of the game, South Africa should come to a standstill. As a nation we have previously and continuously gone to great lengths to support Bafana Bafana. We should extend the same consciousness to Banyana Banyana. Just as SAFA has previously arranged public viewing places for the men’s national team, the same attitude should be extended to the women’s national team. We will also be advocating for the increase in payment and sponsorships for the women’s national team,” said the Minister.

The spar for the Cup, between Banyana Banyana and the Nigerian Women’s National Team will take place on Saturday, 1 December 2018 at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana from 18h00 (Standard South African Time).

The Minister urges all South Africans to wear their national team colours on 1 December, and to blow their vuvuzela’s loud for the National Team.
