Minister Ayanda Dlodlo holds talks on Public sector wage

Public sector wage talks on track as Minister Dlodlo meets union leaders

Minister for Public Service and Administration, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo, has today, Friday 13 April 2018, met the leadership of the unions that are involved in the public service wage talks.

The meeting between Minister Dlodlo and the unions (Cosatu and the Independent Labour Caucus) follows concerns from the unions that government was dragging its feet to conclude the talks.

As the Minister indicated in her last statement on the matter, government is committed to the process and would like to conclude these talks speedily with a settlement that is acceptable to all parties.

"The meeting with the union leaders demonstrates our commitment to finding a viable outcome for both the employer, unions and the South African public" said the Minister

The parties all agreed that the talks must proceed and all committed themselves to the goal of finding a workable outcome for both sides.

"We have agreed with the unions that talks must proceed apace and that the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC) will commence on Tuesday, 17 April 2018" she said.

Minister concluded by once again asking the public servants and the public at large to be patient with the process.

"We are much closer to each other now in terms of the issues on the table and we appeal for patience from all concerned in this regard" she said.
